Weather the Changes this 2016!

New Years Resolution

As we bid goodbye to 2015, many of us are already pledging to embark on the path of self-betterment—be getting back to shape, living healthier, and traveling, and a lot more.

But in this day and age where disasters and climate change are major concerns, maybe it’s time to include these weather-wise resolutions to your list.

Watch weather news.
Just like current events, weather news should be treated with the same priority. Weather shapes our schedule of activities, letting us know what to expect within the day. Being knowledgeable about weather disturbances allows us to plan for our safety. News about the environment, climate change, and astronomical events can also be discovered on the weather news.

Follow evolving forecasts.
Even in this hi-tech world of equations, theories and mapping, weather forecasts remain as forecasts. This means that these can still change from time to time. So it’s better to follow the ever-changing weather news, than to blame meteorologists for giving wrong forecasts. Remember, there are no wrong forecasts; it’s just that you have missed some of it.

Be responsible; share only the facts
Today, information, whether factual or not, are on the tip of our fingertips. To make sure we only get the facts, it’s best to follow legit non-government agencies, local government units and weather news programs like Panahon TV.

Vital information, such as weather warnings, landslides or flashflood advisories, is available on theirsocial media pages. Don’t be a victim and perpetrator of hoaxes; be responsible and share objective content that can positively affect someone’s life.

Be aware of Climate Change.
Aside from day-to-day weather, engage yourself in news that discusses Climate Change, a broad issue that encompasses scientific reports from greenhouse gasses to rising temperatures. It’s a relevant topic that concerns the way we live today, and how it affects future generations. Find out what you can do to fight it, to secure our resources for the growing population.

Engage in environmental activities.
If you’ve promised yourself to travel at least once a month this year, then might as well engage in activities that nurture the environment. There are several organizations that hold nature-friendly programs, such as tree planting and coastal clean-ups.

How cool is that? You get to travel and meet new people while being a soldier of nature.

Before 2015 ended, we saw how nations actively joined conferences regarding Climate Change and other weather-related issues. This year is the time for action, by getting involved in world-changing solutions. May these simple New Year’s resolutions be your guide all throughout 2016.
