Weather Today – November 16, 2018

At 3:00 a.m. today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 435 km West of Puerto City, Palawan and has exited Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Meanwhile at 3:00 a.m., the Tropical Depression was last spotted at 2,310 km East of Mindanao. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph, gustiness of up to 60 kph and it is moving West at 20 kph.

According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong, the tropical depression has no direct effect yet on any parts of the country. However, it is expected to enter PAR on Sunday (November 18) and will be named on its local name Samuel. The Tropical Depression is also expected to hit landmass on Tuesday next week (November 20) and as it moves closer to our country, it is expected to intensify since it’s currently on the Pacific Ocean.

In Palawan and Western Visayas, expect a scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by LPA. In Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley, isolated light rains will be experienced caused by the Northeast Monsoon. In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, isolated rain showers will be experienced caused by Localized Thunderstorm.

No Gale warning hoisted in any seaboards of the country.
