Typhoon “Ompong” has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) last Saturday, leaving the country storm-free.
The country’s 15th Tropical Cyclone entered PAR last Wednesday, September 12. Typhoon Ompong gained strength over the Philippine Sea, posing threat to Northern Luzon. It made landfall in Baggao, Cagayan at 1:40 a.m. last Saturday. After traversing Northern Luzon, it left the landmass .
In the absence of a weather disturbance today, the Ridge of a High Pressure Area now extends across Northern Luzon. “Ridge” refers to the extended part of a High Pressure Area, and is an anticyclone. When this weather systems prevails, formation of clouds is usually suppressed, producing less chance of rains.
The entire country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for chances of localized thunderstorms.
Despite the improved weather, classes in all levels are still suspended in parts of Luzon.
