Weather Today – October 7, 2017

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) prevails in Philippine premises and was last located at 525 kilometers (kms.) east-southeast of Virac, Catanduanes. PAGASA Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong said it has a slim chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within 24 hours. However, he noted that it may continue to move closer to landmass and could cross Central Luzon.

It will continue to dump rains in several areas in Luzon and Visayas. The Bicol Region, Cagayan, Isabela and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The same weather condition is expected in Eastern Visayas. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

No gale warning was issued today but fisherfolk are advised to be cautious in venturing out into the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the province of Quezon, Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas. These areas will have moderate to rough sea conditions, making sea travel risky for small vessels.

Hello, Amihan?

The first week of October is almost over and one of the things to expect this month is the arrival of the Amihan Season. Quitlong said the transition period is still in progress. “Ang pagpasok po ng Amihan Season ay maaaring sa 3rd week o last week of October pa,”,he added. (Amihan Season is expected to occur in the latter part of the October.)
