PHIVOLCS has recorded 4 volcanic earthquakes and 1 rockfall event and 272 sulfur dioxide during the past 24-hour observation period. Crater glow was not observed last night. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) flux was measured at an average of 169 tonnes/day on October 23, 2014. Read more »

Volcanoes and the Climate

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or PHIVOLCS retains its Alert Level 3 in Mayon Volcano as it continues to show signs of eruption. Though based on the latest bulletin released at 8:00 AM today, volcanic earthquakes were not observed for the past 24 hours, while there were moderate emissions of white steam plumes and faint crater glow emanating from the center of the dome.
